Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a full-time psychiatrist to join Richmond Mental Health and Substance Use Services. This position involves 0.6 FTE with the Richmond Adult Mental Health Team (MHT) and 0.4 FTE with the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team, offering a combination of longitudinal community psychiatry and outreach-based care. Richmond is known for its collegial, welcoming, and highly collaborative Department of Psychiatry, with physicians supported by experienced interdisciplinary teams, strong community programs, and close partnerships across outpatient, inpatient, and emergency psychiatry services. The department values teamwork, mentorship, clinical excellence, and work-life balance. Richmond offers an exceptional quality of life with easy access to Vancouver, Vancouver International Airport, world-class restaurants, outdoor recreation, and the natural beauty of the West Coast. The Richmond Adult Mental Health Team provides ongoing assessment and treatment for adults living with serious and persistent mental illness requiring interdisciplinary community-based care. Referrals are received primarily from family physicians, inpatient psychiatry, and the Emergency Department. The ACT team provides intensive community-based treatment and rehabilitation for adults with severe mental illness and complex needs, including concurrent substance use disorders, housing instability, and significant functional impairment. The psychiatrist works closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team and provides care in both clinic and community settings. Psychiatrists in Richmond participate in the education of medical students, residents, and allied health professionals, with opportunities for teaching, quality improvement, leadership, and program development. This is a permanent full-time position (1.0 FTE) with a combination remuneration model (sessional and fee-for-service) and participation in the Richmond Department of Psychiatry on-call schedule. The start date is to be mutually agreed upon. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established, well-resourced, and supportive department while building a diverse and sustainable community psychiatry practice.
