About The Position
CoreCivic is seeking a Psychiatric Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care in an institutional setting. The successful candidate must perform the role’s duties at a pace and level consistent with the job’s performance requirements. The position applies nursing skills to the treatment of inmates and residents and includes assessing and responding to medical needs, assisting with physician sick calls, performing emergency procedures, and guiding and monitoring other medical staff.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited college, university, or nursing program with a degree or diploma in nursing.
- Hold current nursing licensure in the state of employment.
- Have at least one year of psychiatric nursing experience as a licensed registered nurse in a hospital, medical office, or residential setting.
- Obtain Board Certification in Psychiatric Nursing from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) within two years of hire.
- Hold a valid driver's license.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
Responsibilities
- Apply appropriate nursing skills in the area and treatment of inmates and residents.
- Attend physician sick calls; prepare lists of inmates and residents to be examined and prepare the examination room and equipment.
- Examine and assess new inmates or residents with illnesses or injuries, as well as those who become ill or injured; refer them to an emergency room or other appropriate healthcare facility as needed.
- Perform emergency procedures as needed and notify a Licensed Independent Provider for treatment orders.
- Provide guidance, supervise, and monitor nursing care provided by licensed vocational or practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
