About The Position
St. Francis Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for its behavioral health services. The role provides nursing care to patients with mental health needs, including treatment, education about mental and medical conditions, and advice and emotional support for patients and/or family members. The nurse also supports therapeutic groups, psychiatric crisis intervention, and patient seclusion and restraint when required. The Registered Nurse records patients’ medical histories and symptoms; assists with diagnostic testing and interpretation of results; operates medical machinery; administers treatments and medications; and supports patient follow-up and rehabilitation. The role also includes teaching patients and families about managing illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, self-administration of medication, and physical therapy. Other related duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current certification.
- Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
- Working knowledge of the interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming, and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
- Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.
