About The Position

Wilson Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for its 19-bed Adult Behavioral Health Unit. The unit is staffed by Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Mental Health Technicians, Social Work Therapists, Recreational Therapists, and Psychiatric Providers. It treats patients with diagnoses including Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Substance Use Disorder. Patients may present with psychosis, suicidal or homicidal ideation, mania, or exacerbations of mental illness. This role offers an opportunity to collaborate in a supportive environment focused on quality care for people experiencing behavioral health crises.

The schedule is three 12-hour night shifts, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with rotating weekends and holidays. The position is in person and includes a $20,000 commitment bonus.

Requirements

• Current state Registered Nurse license.
• Degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS certifications within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Accurately perform patient assessments and identify patient needs.
• Identify and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
• Use crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
• Complete timely and appropriate medical-record documentation relating to medical necessity.
• Perform timely and accurate quality improvement assessments.
