About The Position

This position provides direct care and support to individuals, assists with daily activities, and helps maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. It plays an important role in supporting nursing staff and promoting positive individual outcomes. As a Psychiatric Aide, you will perform the following duties: Daily Support: Assist individuals with personal care, hygiene needs, and activities of daily living Health Monitoring: Record vital signs, observe changes, and report concerns to nursing staff Activity Assistance: Escort individuals to appointments and supervise program and leisure activities Emergency Response: Provide trained assistance during medical or psychiatric emergencies Communication Tasks: Document information, interact respectfully with individuals and families, and maintain confidentiality Care Participation: Help maintain living areas, follow safety procedures, and support nursing programs

Requirements

  • Successful completion of the Aide Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Six months of experience in the care, activities, and personal guidance of individuals with mental health or physical illness or disabilities; or Certification as a Nurse Aide or Nursing Assistant through the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
  • Conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
