About The Position

The Property Accountant plays a key role in managing the accounting activities of Groupe Touchette Real Estate’s property portfolio. The incumbent is responsible for preparing financial statements, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and monitoring cash flow while ensuring the effective application of internal controls. This role actively contributes to the company’s annual financial processes, including external audits, budgeting, and annual operating expense reconciliations, as well as acquisition accounting, continuous process improvement initiatives, and special projects.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of property accounting.
  • Good understanding of internal controls.
  • Proficiency with accounting software.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized.
  • Strong collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Bilingualism required: Proficiency in English is necessary due to frequent interactions with predominantly English-speaking pan-Canadian partners. This language is frequently used in both written and verbal communications. An advanced level is required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and financial analyses.
  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of balance sheet schedules.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow.
  • Participate in the annual external audit process.
  • Prepare annual operating expense reconciliation calculations for properties.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Support the accounting integration of acquisitions.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as required.
