About The Position

Lefebvre & Benoit, a company with over 68 years of expertise in the distribution of construction materials, is seeking an engaged, rigorous individual to join their team. The company has a strong presence in Laval, Terrebonne, and Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures and is known for its quality products, reliable service, and one of the largest fleets of crane trucks in Quebec. Lefebvre & Benoit is growing and looking for individuals ready to contribute to a culture of excellence in a stimulating environment where every role is important. The successful candidate will be responsible for the complete accounting cycle for several group entities. They will play a key role in the organization's financial rigor by performing reconciliations, month-end entries, analyses, and tax obligations. In collaboration with internal teams, they will act as a resource for accounting operations, contribute to process improvements and various projects, and provide direct support to the financial management. Please note that the team will be on vacation during the construction holiday period, which may cause a delay in communication with candidates.

Requirements

  • Diploma of College Studies (DEC) or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Excellent command of Excel (pivot tables, advanced functions)
  • Strong ability to manage priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Rigor and precision in processing financial data
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Proficiency in French and good knowledge of English, both oral and written, required due to interactions with partners, suppliers, and business documents in English
  • Autonomy, resourcefulness, and initiative
  • Excellent team spirit and collaboration

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the accounting of several group entities, including:
  • Perform bank reconciliations
  • Make monthly general ledger entries
  • Track the fixed asset schedule
  • Analyze prepaid expenses and various accounts receivable
  • Record and track month-end accruals
  • Ensure compliance and preparation of GST and QST returns
  • Prepare intercompany reconciliations
  • Participate in the preparation of year-end audit files
  • Participate in various internal company projects
  • Assist the Controller and/or Financial Director
