About The Position

Hillcrest Health & Living is looking for a dependable, talented, and service-focused Chef to join our culinary team at Hillcrest Highlands of Gretna. As a Chef, you will prepare high-quality hot and cold food while helping create a dining experience residents can genuinely look forward to. You will work across multiple dining venues, ensuring meals are prepared accurately, presented well, served on time, and produced in a clean and safe kitchen environment. Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must be able to independently lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and movement throughout the shift.
  • Must be flexible and calm when working in a fast-paced culinary environment.
  • Must demonstrate strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to utilize technology and available resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Must follow established food-safety, sanitation, and infection-control standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous line-cooking, restaurant, hotel, senior living, or similar culinary experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least two years of hotel or restaurant line-cooking experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare hot and cold food items according to established recipes and standards.
  • Plate meals according to presentation, portion, and plating expectations.
  • Set up hot and cold lines for meal service.
  • Prepare food for multiple dining venues throughout the community.
  • Complete daily food-production lists.
  • Ensure meals and food items are prepared and served accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
  • Follow established sanitation and infection-control standards.
  • Assist with receiving and properly storing food deliveries.
  • Complete deep cleaning of kitchen equipment and work areas.
  • Support deli tray preparation and delivery as needed.
  • Maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, and consistency.
  • Work collaboratively with culinary team members to keep meal service running smoothly.
  • Follow required food-safety, sanitation, and training standards.
  • Assist with additional culinary responsibilities as needed.
