About The Position

MOM offers high-quality commercial cleaning services, including office cleaning, window washing, carpet cleaning, air duct maintenance, and the cleaning of common areas in commercial and residential buildings. With a business model that is unique in Quebec, MOM Cleaning has built a trusted network of franchise owners, in-house specialists, and reliable partners and subcontractors for over 20 years. We are seeking an Accountant to join our client's Montreal head office.

Requirements

  • University degree in Accounting or Business Administration
  • Minimum of five years of full-cycle accounting experience
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Fluency in French is preferred, with strong English communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks
  • Experience preparing and processing payroll and working with payroll providers and accountants
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a high volume of financial data and customer accounts (300+ recurring customers).
  • Knowledge of billing systems
  • Solid understanding of Canadian sales taxes and experience preparing quarterly tax filings
  • Strong communication skills with customers, franchisees, and internal teams
  • Ability to analyze and challenge financial information to assess project profitability
  • Highly detail-oriented, exceptionally organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Processing and recording financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Reconciling bank statements and completing monthly bank reconciliations
  • Tracking fixed assets and preparing depreciation schedules
  • Posting and updating journal entries
  • Performing regular bank and general ledger reconciliations
  • Preparing the trial balance
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries and supporting schedules
  • Preparing various financial reports and statements for internal use as required
  • Supporting the external audit process by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
  • Preparing and analyzing internal financial statements, management reports, and supporting documentation
  • Managing billing for both the corporate office and approximately 30 franchisees to ensure accurate revenue allocation
  • Preparing and submitting quarterly sales tax filings
  • Preparing year-end working paper files for auditors
  • Preparing payroll information for processing
  • Ensuring all reporting deadlines are met, particularly franchisee statements of account due on the 15th of each month
