Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce with a major in Accounting or a college diploma in Accounting
  • 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, including payroll and DAS, GST/QST, bank reconciliations, and the preparation of financial statements and income tax returns
  • Experience reviewing and supervising the work of others
  • Prior experience working with accounting software, including Sage 50, QuickBooks, Write-Up, CaseWare, TaxPrep, and others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, leadership, and client relations skills
  • Good knowledge of taxation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Eager to learn and desire to lead files

Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements and working papers for operating and investment companies
  • Prepare personal, corporate, trust, and partnership tax returns (T1, T2, T3, T5013)
  • Support junior team members with general bookkeeping and the preparation of bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
  • Support junior team members with the calculation, reporting, and filing of compliance reports, including GST/QST and payroll
  • Handle general correspondence and filing
  • Communicate effectively with our clients, government agencies, partners, and staff
  • Provide advice and training to junior staff members
  • Provide bookkeeping services to our clients and guide client’s bookkeeper when needed
