The Project Manager (PM) independently leads projects through their entire lifecycle, ensuring objectives are met on time, within budget, and according to Mayo Clinic's project management standards. The PM is responsible for budget management, problem-solving, decision-making, and change management with minimal supervision. Strong business acumen, relationship-building skills, and the ability to work with diverse functions are essential. The role may involve matrix supervision and direct/indirect reports. The PM is expected to foster a project-focused culture and advise others on project management practices. Experience with Agile methodologies, including monitoring scrum processes and meetings, is crucial for improving efficiency, motivating teams, and ensuring quality and timeliness. Specific Agile responsibilities include guiding teams on Agile practices, assessing and coaching team/organizational maturity, removing impediments, building a safe environment for problem-solving, facilitating work without coercion, and supporting Product Owners in backlog management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 7 years of experience in Project Management and business related activities OR Master's degree with 4 years of experience in Project Management related activities.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience monitoring scrum processes and meetings.
  • Experience guiding teams on Agile practices and values.
  • Experience assessing maturity of the team/organization and coaching to higher levels.
  • Experience removing impediments or guiding team to do so.
  • Experience building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised and resolved.
  • Experience facilitating work without coercion, assigning, or dictating.
  • Experience facilitating discussion, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
  • Experience supporting and educating Product Owner, especially on creating the backlog and refining it.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, directing, coordinating, and delivering project activities through the entire project life cycle.
  • Achieving project objectives and completion on time, on budget, and in conformance to Mayo Clinic project management methodologies and standards.
  • Independently leading one or multiple medium to large projects that have department or site level strategic importance.
  • Managing established budget, participating in the creation and tracking of project budgets, and adhering strictly to budget management guidelines.
  • Facilitating problem-solving, decision-making, and change management under minimal supervision.
  • Applying negotiation skills characterized by entrepreneurial thinking.
  • Building relationships with diverse functions.
  • Potentially performing matrix supervision and evaluation of staff from other departments, divisions, and contractors/vendors.
  • Potentially having direct and indirect reports.
  • Demonstrating the project focused culture and advising other staff regarding PM practices, methods and standards.
  • Monitoring scrum processes and meetings.
  • Increasing efficiency, motivating the team, and advocating for changes to ensure quality and timeliness.
