This paid internship opportunity with the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office (BCMEO) is based out of Green Bay, Wisconsin. This internship does not require current enrollment in a college program and is not eligible for college credit. However, the internship schedule aligns with the traditional academic year (fall, spring, and summer). This internship will be focused on assisting the daily administrative operations of the Medical Examiner’s Office, but may give exposure to other duties, including those of the funeral home liaison, clerk, quality assurance specialist, office management, medicolegal death investigation, and forensic pathology. Individual projects may be assigned on a case-by-case basis depending on the personal and professional goals of the intern. The internship program will provide individuals dedicated to community service the opportunity to gain insight into the essential public service functions of the Office of the Medical Examiner, with an emphasis on public health, education, and emergency management. Interns will support the department’s daily operations and contribute to departmental projects, actively advancing its mission to provide compassionate forensic medical care to the communities we serve. Interns will deepen their interpersonal skills by engaging with the public, including individuals experiencing loss, as well as with civil service professionals.
