About The Position

As a Medical Records Examiner for the Department of Human Services, you help ensure that individuals receive the resources they need to live safely and independently. This position allows you to apply your expertise to safeguard program quality and support participant well-being. This position focuses on reviewing critical incidents and service plans to ensure participants in home and community-based programs receive appropriate, consistent, and effective support. It plays a central role in upholding standards of care and strengthening service delivery across the Commonwealth.

Requirements

  • Three years of professional experience in the field of medical assistance, health care services, or human services; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • Possession of an active motor vehicle license.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Examine critical incidents and service plans to confirm accuracy and appropriate service delivery
  • Work with service coordinators, providers, and agencies to address concerns and maintain participant well-being
  • Evaluate medical documentation to determine service suitability and guide individuals to needed resources
  • Assess incident patterns to identify issues that may affect participant service plans
  • Assist with monitoring waivers, reviewing policies, and supporting development of new initiatives
  • Provide information and technical assistance to legislators, agencies, physicians, and families
