About The Position

Under the general supervision of the JM4C Director, and with support and technical assistance from the Janesville Mobilizing 4 Change Board of Directors and Coalition Members, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the assigned Federal, State or local grant. The Project Coordinator will assist JM4C in leveraging shared responsibility across multiple sectors to promote leadership and resources that challenge alcohol and other drug standards, norms and values in Janesville and Rock County.

Requirements

  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience working with school-aged youth or teens through volunteer work, coaching, mentoring, peer support, recreation, school activities, or community programming.
  • Access to transportation for job-related duties.
  • Working Knowledge in Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in virtual meeting tools, TEAMS and Google Drive products.
  • Excellent ability to connect with and work with high risk youth populations.
  • Public speaking and interpersonal communication.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, judgement, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, paired with a strong customer service background, and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to compose routine correspondence and routine reports in a clear, concise, logical, and effective manner, utilizing proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and tone.
  • Ability to be reliable, steady, timely, and proactive in completion of duties.
  • Ability to organize, plan, research projects and programs, make recommendations, and successfully implement once approved.
  • Ability to read and interpret federal program rules, regulations, municipal codes, and ordinances.
  • Ability to model respectful, appropriate, and professional behavior.
  • Ability to support youth from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with youth, especially middle school and teen participants.
  • Ability to learn and apply new technology in order to effectively and efficiently carry out the tasks and responsibilities of the JM4C operations.
  • Ability to effectively make presentations to small and large groups of individuals, manage public speaking obligations, and successfully communicate with the general public.
  • Ability to comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report all unsafe activities or conditions to supervisor.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR/First Aid training preferred but not required.
  • Peer support, coaching, mentoring, or youth leadership experience preferred.
  • A combination of equivalent experience and/or education as determined by the Human Resources Office may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.
  • Working knowledge of community organizing, consensus building, program implementation, group facilitating, cultural competency and/or public policy development.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Janesville and Rock County community.
  • Strong skills in building community campaigning materials for print, social media, radio and billboard.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, reliability, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, preparing, and facilitating youth activities, including school-based and community-based programming.
  • Support youth and teen participants during JM4C Meet Ups, small groups, youth leadership activities, and prevention events.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with youth and provide encouragement, mentoring, and appropriate guidance.
  • Help youth practice coping strategies, communication skills, decision-making, teamwork, leadership, and conflict resolution.
  • Serve as a positive adult role model during youth programming and community events.
  • Assist with setup, cleanup, attendance tracking, supplies, snacks/meals, and general program logistics.
  • Support youth-created prevention materials, awareness campaigns, and outreach activities.
  • Help maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants.
  • Assist with chaperoning youth events, recreational activities, and after-school programming.
  • Communicate youth needs, concerns, participation issues, or safety concerns to the JM4C Director.
  • Assist with collecting basic program feedback, participation information, and activity documentation.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, or check-ins related to the seasonal position.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
