This position is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing strategic business and mission critical information technology projects, in order to achieve the business objectives of a wide variety of clients. The position develops project plans and quotes, and guides the planning, development and implementation process for multiple projects of varying size and complexity. Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree from a recognized university (in business and/or information technology), and Project Management certification (PMP) attained or training completed/in progress with plan to attain the certification; plus a minimum of two years progressively more responsible Project Management experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Proficiency in the following: Managing small-medium IT projects and/or programs.
  • Providing leadership to small-medium teams.
  • Providing clear professional verbal and written communication to a variety of recipients, including employees and clients.
  • Managing priorities; allocating and coordinating the provision of project resources.
  • The candidate has to reside in the Province of British Columbia, due to the union certification requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, supports and manages the work of a project group within a defined area of authorization.
  • Responsible for implementing technology based solutions in partnership with clients that are aligned with business needs on time and within approved project budgets.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement in business through the collection, analysis and documenting of business requirements.
  • Ensures that all information systems standards are met when developing business solutions.
  • Facilitates and coordinates the business planning process for moderately complex and medium sized projects.
  • Prepares project estimates, and reports cost constraint/considerations.
  • Develops and manages project documentation that includes; the Project Plan, Business Case, and reflect costs, timelines, risk management and contingency plans, resourcing strategy, project structure and reporting expectations, and management approach to be used throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Reviews project requirements with clients and prepares documentation, including project plans, to initiate projects using standard project management practices and procedures.
  • Ensures the accuracy, integrity and effectiveness of the project plan are provided to the client.
  • Interfaces with Delivery Project Execution teams to ensure project services are performed efficiently with full integrity and to the satisfaction of the client.
  • Assigns, monitors and checks the work of assigned Delivery Project Execution staff using standard ISM tools (e.g. ServiceNow).
  • Determines the scope, feasibility, and cost of upgrade, conversion, and other desktop projects when required to effect business solutions.
  • Obtains commitment from all stakeholders and recommends project plans to management and clients.
  • Advises and facilitates resolution of systems issues for clients concerning unique or unresolved problems or requirements resulting from, or as part of the client project plan.
  • Participates in post implementation reviews and documents results and recommendations; surveys and documents feedback and overall satisfaction of users and Business Sponsors.
  • Maintains familiarity with all client groups to coordinate the services of the Business Operations Unit with other internal and external entities.
  • Markets the services, technological capabilities, and expertise of ISM Canada, including managing client expectations for service levels/capabilities/project timelines.
  • Monitors client satisfaction with project deliverables.
  • Develops project management guidelines, procedures and templates.
  • Provides project guidance and leadership to team members and clients as and when required.
