About The Position

Black & McDonald’s BC team is growing. We are seeking a motivated and collaborative Project Coordinator to support the execution of capital projects for BC Hydro facilities throughout the Lower Mainland and across the province. Based in Vancouver and reporting to the Lead Project Manager, this role supports the delivery of a large volume of facilities maintenance and operations capital projects throughout the year. The Project Coordinator coordinates tasks on multiple capital projects simultaneously and supports all phases of project delivery. This includes scope development and planning through execution, commissioning, and close-out. The Facilities Project Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Degree or Diploma in Construction or Facilities Management is preferred
  • Several years of building maintenance/construction or related experience may substitute for educational requirements
  • 2-3 years of building maintenance/construction experience
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and compliance
  • Travel to sites across the province for client visits is essential
  • Clean Class 5 BC Drivers’ Licence and Drivers’ Abstract
  • Proficient to Intermediate knowledge and understanding of: Construction scheduling, planning, and execution.
  • Proficient to Intermediate knowledge and understanding of: Business operations processes.
  • Proficient to Intermediate user of: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).
  • Proficient to Intermediate user of: JD Edwards or an Oracle-based ERP system.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP or similar designation would be an asset
  • Knowledge of Computer Estimating Programs is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager(s) to deliver a large volume of capital projects for BC Hydro sites across the province
  • Assist with managing all aspects of project execution, including cost, schedule, quality and safety
  • Support all phases of project execution, including planning, mobilization, implementation, commissioning, and close-out
  • Assist in planning and coordinating activities on multiple projects at various stages of the project life cycle
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, internal team members, subcontractors, trades, and suppliers
  • Meet regularly with clients to provide project updates and maintain open communication
  • Coordinate work activities with various stakeholders (subcontractors/other departments) to align with established schedules and minimize disruption to operations
  • Visit job sites regularly to verify work is being done according to specifications and ensuring client satisfaction
  • Ensure all work is planned and executed safely in accordance with company safety programs and standards
  • Review of work order content for accuracy prior to invoicing
  • Assist in tracking project costs, invoices, payables, and other financial documentation
  • Assist with identifying operational impacts of projects, including maintenance, energy, and site operations
  • Support review of technical specifications, project initiation documents, and design submissions
  • Participate in project planning, kickoff, and design review meetings
  • Assist with identifying and communicating operational impacts, recurring costs, and health, safety, and environmental considerations
  • Develop mobilization plans and budgets for project work
  • Coordinate and assist with project handover activities
  • Participate in commissioning and equipment testing
  • Receive and manage as-built drawings and operational documents in an approved electronic repository
  • Participate in closeout documentation and lessons learned sessions
