About The Position

Alberta Infrastructure is responsible for delivering about one quarter of the Alberta government’s Capital Plan, which addresses the provincial infrastructure needs of Alberta’s population that support key social programs and services and economic development. The Ministry designs, builds, manages, and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that school and hospital infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. Infrastructure also provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans.

Requirements

  • Two-year technical diploma in Architectural/Engineering technology.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of experience in construction or a related technical field, with exposure to project coordination, site supervision, or similar roles.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Project Managers in the delivery and implementation of school projects, including P3, DBB, DB, and CM; from design development through construction, building commissioning and turnover stages for assigned capital projects.
  • Acting as a liaison between the client/user, consultants and the construction team, balancing client/user needs within project constraints, and obtaining maximum cooperation between client/user groups, support departments, external agencies, consultants and contractors.
  • Managing the control, distribution, processing and maintenance of all contract documents including plans, drawings, as-builts, change orders, and detailed designs.
  • Conducting site reviews for quality control and advising on project(s) schedule status.
  • Developing processes and systems to ensure documents are reviewed and processed quickly and meet ministry standards.
  • Working closely with staff of other sections and branches to ensure facilities are inventoried and project status is reported as required.
  • Supporting the delivery of school projects to ensure they are delivered within scope, budget, time, and quality to client's satisfaction.
  • Providing professional expertise to ensure that projects are progressing and that issues and problems are addressed and resolved.
  • Establishing and maintaining a complex document management system for the project team, both manually and electronically within SharePoint.
  • Participating in construction start up meetings on assigned projects.
  • Performing frequent inspections of work area and site documentation to ensure all policies and procedures are being followed and all work is carried out as per quality time and safety regulations/specifications.
  • Participating in the review of drawings and specifications to ensure adherence to building standards and coordinating input from client users to confirm functionality where appropriate.
  • Ensuring all phases of document management and control comply with Government and Ministry legislation, policies, guidelines, standards, and procedures.
  • Coordinating fit-up at the site and ensures the resolution to identified deficiencies.
