About The Position

Under general supervision, this role coordinates and assists with the completion of projects and provides management support for Fort Irwin's cultural resource management program. This position involves providing technical expertise, guidance, and management support for Fort Irwin National Historic Preservation Act consultation and documentation under Section 106/110. It also includes coordinating project activities such as initiation, value assessments, work plan development, estimating, and project controls, and recommending program guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations. The role also involves geospatial mapping of cultural resources and other GIS work, technical report reviews and revisions, developing Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA) and Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) plans of action, assisting with the execution of tasks within the Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plan (ICRMP) and agreement documents, supporting Tribal consultation, meetings, and site visits, tracking permit and project milestones, and assisting with documentation and evaluation of built features and structures, archaeological sites, Sacred sites, and Traditional Cultural Places. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • Four years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of standard proofreading.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise, guidance, and management support for Fort Irwin National Historic Preservation Act consultation and documentation under Section 106/110.
  • Coordinates project activities including project initiation, value assessments, work plan development, estimating, and project controls.
  • Recommends program guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Geospatial mapping of cultural resources and other GIS work.
  • Technical report reviews and revisions.
  • Develop Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA) and Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) plans of action to address inadvertent discoveries.
  • Assist with execution of tasks within the Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plan (ICRMP) and agreement documents, such as a programmatic agreement.
  • Support Tribal consultation, meetings, and site visits.
  • Track permit and project milestones dates and deadlines.
  • Assist with documentation and evaluation of built features and structures, archaeological sites, Sacred sites, and Traditional Cultural Places.
  • Other duties as assigned.
