About The Position

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Program Support Technician Senior in our Human Resources (HR) Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to: Providing advanced administrative and technical support to the Classification & Compensation (C&C) Section. Assisting with program coordination, document preparation, data entry, reporting, and workflow tracking for compensation‑related programs. Ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely processing of documentation and supports the section by maintaining records, preparing reports, and responding to routine inquiries.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of HR office practices, administrative procedures, and document management.
  • Knowledge of HR systems, data entry processes, and workflow tracking.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), including functions used for basic data analysis, such as sorting, filtering, and producing summary information from spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality requirements and proper handling of sensitive HR information.
  • Skill in using Excel and other Microsoft Office applications to organize, validate, and summarize data, prepare charts or tables, and support reporting needs.
  • Skill in reviewing documents and spreadsheets to identify errors, inconsistencies, or missing information and taking appropriate corrective steps.
  • Skill in applying established procedures to ensure accurate, consistent documentation and data integrity across systems.
  • Skill in customer service, written and verbal communication, and providing clear explanations based on documented policies or program data.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, interpret, summarize, and communicate information in English orally and in writing in English and identify issues that need clarification or correction.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide customer service in a professional environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to access, retrieve, and interpret automated records and compare information across systems to ensure alignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply policies and established procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency in documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and complete files, manage multiple priorities, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and guidelines consistently.
  • Ability to analyze information and prepare accurate documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced HR environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, processes, and system updates.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately while escalating issues when data or documentation appears out of compliance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Experience supporting HR processes or programs where routine documentation, data tracking, or workflow monitoring is required.
  • Some exposure to routine job classification and compensation activities including searching for and summarizing information or conducting basic comparisons as part of research.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with PageUp, Cardinal, or similar HRIS applications or position management systems including reviewing system data for accuracy or alignment across sources preferred.
