About The Position

To develop student athletes in a micro-school environment by delivering high-quality baseball and softball coaching and coordinating with instructional staff to ensure program flexibility and alignment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Valid Florida teaching certificate or have applied to obtain a Florida teaching certificate.
  • One (1) year of experience coaching baseball or softball.
  • Three (3) years of teaching required.
  • Must be available to work weekends and maintain a flexible work schedule.
  • Knowledge of teaching and learning processes and the ability to support student development in a flexible learning environment.
  • Knowledge of baseball and softball development with emphasis on safe practice design, physical conditioning, and injury prevention.
  • Ability to foster strong team culture that highlights sportsmanship, work ethic, accountability, and respect.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers to coordinate schedules and support rotating student groupings between academic instruction and athletic training.
  • Strong communication skills with parents and families.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Physical education certification preferred.
  • Health and physical education courses preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and supervise athletic activities, including practices, games, and tournaments with responsibility for student safety and supervision.
  • Support and participate in weekend tournaments and events as part of the program’s extended schedule (note that this position may work non-traditional weekly schedules to account for weekend tournaments).
  • Collaborate with micro-school teachers to coordinate flexible student groupings, allowing for small-group instruction in both academic and athletic settings.
  • Model and reinforce expectations for sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and work ethic in all interactions.
  • Communicate regularly with families and school staff regarding schedules, activities, and student progress.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the micro-school model through reflection, collaboration, and program feedback.
  • Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to all HRMD guidelines and the district’s instructional initiatives.
  • Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to fixed assets.
  • Develop leadership in subordinates.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology being used by OCPS. With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
  • Responsible for maintaining timely and accurate information and accountable for the quality of information maintained by those they supervise.
  • Responsible for self-development and keeping up to date on current research, trends, and best practices relevant to the area of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
