About The Position

Assist the Head Coach with all aspects of the NJCAA intercollegiate softball program, including supporting the assistance and management of NIACC’s new all-turf college complex, scheduled to open spring 2027. Provide support to the Head Softball Coach and Athletic Director through operational support of all athletic programs, facilities, and grounds, event management, compliance and fundraising.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Coaching experience or demonstrated ability to coach college athletes.
  • Ability to recruit and retain qualified student athletes.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective computer skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with varying age groups.
  • Ability to assist with fundraising efforts.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience competing or coaching softball.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and retain qualified students to help take the program forward, monitor their academic performance and hold study tables in order to help athletes progress successfully towards completion and graduation.
  • Coach and supervise the softball team during scheduled practices, games and other events linked to the softball program.
  • Maintain responsibility for expense control and compliance with all program expenditures, staying within budget.
  • Assist the program with all NJCAA rules and regulations.
  • Assist in developing strategies to motivate the maximum level of individual and team athletic performance required to build and maintain a competitive, high-quality NJCAA program.
  • Develop strategies to ensure a safe environment for the athletes.
  • Promote the athletic program both on campus and off campus and actively participate in and contribute professionally to the Athletic Department.
  • Plan and conduct camps and other fundraising events in coordination with the Head Coach.
  • Maintain strong organizational skills, demonstrate reliability, and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Fulfill other responsibilities as needed or assigned.
  • Perform in a manner which strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College, including opportunities for student recruitment.
  • Adhere to all NIACC policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and respect for others when working with all NIACC departments, employees, students, partners, and the public.
