About The Position

Reading Partners is seeking a Program Manager to join their team in Minnesota. This role is crucial in addressing the literacy crisis by leveraging community tutors in under-resourced schools. The Program Manager will lead, develop, and mobilize a team of AmeriCorps Volunteers and community tutors to deliver high-quality, one-on-one literacy instruction. This position manages all aspects of program quality, delivery, and implementation in 4-6 schools, with a specific focus on facilitating and developing tutor trainings required for the Minnesota READ Act. The role involves directing day-to-day operations, managing internal and external relationships, training and coaching tutors, driving strategies for literacy development, and using data for decision-making. The ideal candidate is an inspiring team leader, adept at managing people and projects, goal-oriented, and comfortable with both strategic and hands-on work. This role partners closely with the Program Director on program quality, problem-solving, student assessment, progress monitoring, and program enhancements. The Program Manager will collaborate with peers to ensure successful outcomes for students across the region.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years working with elementary-aged students in a learning environment.
  • Teaching, education, or education/afterschool program coordination experience is strongly preferred.
  • Completed LETRS (preferred), CAREILL, or OL&LA certification programming.
  • Direct management experience with volunteers, interns, and/or emerging professionals.
  • Experience with literacy assessments, teaching strategies, translating data into action for students, and student data analysis or experience working with children in a formal capacity.
  • Passion for service to others and the broader community.
  • Access to reliable transportation and/or ability to navigate public transportation to travel within a defined geographic region daily.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in work schedule, including some night and weekend time.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office and database management experience.
  • Commitment to fostering a dynamic and collaborative work environment.
  • Deep belief in the mission and grounding work in core values.
  • Ability to prove eligibility to work legally in the U.S. and be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the Reading Partners program across 4-6 schools in Minnesota, ensuring fidelity to program quality standards and maximizing student impact.
  • Supervise program implementation to ensure students achieve literacy goals, including assessment, enrollment, and curriculum placement.
  • Achieve 90% student enrollment by February and maintain over 90% student attendance.
  • Ensure every student completes milestone assessments and masters grade-appropriate foundational literacy skills, with 85% meeting individualized end-of-year literacy growth goals.
  • Create and manage systems for student success, including curriculum placement and ensuring students receive two sessions per week.
  • Design and supervise the implementation of individualized learning plans and conduct regular observations of students/tutors (at least 6 hours/week) to monitor progress and collect anecdotal data.
  • Analyze data and create action plans to improve student results.
  • Cultivate Reading Partners champions within schools and communities, maintaining strong principal/site supervisor relationships (aiming for 90% satisfaction).
  • Share student impact information with school stakeholders.
  • Coach AmeriCorps Volunteers on building relationships with teachers and community tutors.
  • Advocate for Reading Partners' needs within each school or reading center site.
  • Support tutor community building efforts to aid recruitment and retention, aiming for 90% tutor satisfaction and retention.
  • Partner with the regional program leadership team to collect fee-for-service.
  • Recruit, hire, coach, manage, and train a team of up to 12 Reading Partners AmeriCorps volunteers, aiming for 85% retention through the term of service.
  • Build a strong, positive, and productive culture across the AmeriCorps team, sharing best practices and fostering a growth mindset.
  • Coach AmeriCorps volunteers to use student data for informed decision-making.
  • Lead Minnesota region's compliance with Minnesota READ Act training requirements for AmeriCorps Volunteers and community tutors.
  • Lead the development of the RPAO schedule and trainings to incorporate required READ Act trainings.
  • Support the scheduling and implementation of the 4-part READ Act training for community tutors.
  • Work closely with the Community Engagement Team to create systems for tracking tutor participation in READ Act trainings.
  • Partner with National Program and Regional Operations teams to support regional impact.
  • Partner with the National Program Director to discuss student progress, program quality, and programmatic solutions.
  • Support the overall community volunteer experience by attending recruitment and engagement events.
  • Partner with the Development team to support fundraising goals by assisting with local development events.
  • Support organizational operations goals.
