About The Position

The Division of Undergraduate Education is comprised of student-centered departments dedicated to fostering and enhancing the undergraduate academic experience. They implement and support innovative teaching, advising, and student interventions that strategically promote student success, retention, and graduation. The division strives to create meaningful relationships with students and values collaboration with colleagues across academic and administrative areas to ensure students experience an inclusive and engaging environment. The Program Manager for Academic Support Initiatives is a high-impact role within the Academic Success and Tutoring Center (ASTC). This position is responsible for the design, implementation, and scaling of proactive interventions aimed at increasing retention and graduation rates for undergraduate students. The Program Manager bridges the gap between the ASTC and academic departments, and manages both macro-level initiatives such as Supplemental Instruction and micro-level programs designed to support targeted student groups. The ideal candidate is a proactive and adaptable professional who excels at building initiatives from the ground up while remaining agile as institutional priorities shift. As a creative problem-solver, they can navigate the complexities of a research university and build consensus with faculty through a consultative, adaptable approach. They are a strong communicator who uses data to inform decision-making and articulate a compelling narrative of program value to campus partners. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree obtained by June 1, 2026 (foreign degree or higher).
Three (3) years of full-time administrative experience in learning center programs, tutoring services, academic support services, academic advising, teaching, or relevant student support service (Related graduate student work experience may be considered at ½ time).
Experience training and supervising student staff.
Experience in program coordination, including the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate student success initiatives.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in higher education/student affairs, education, teaching, cognitive science/psychology, social sciences, or related discipline.
At least one (1) year of professional experience working with undergraduate students on a college campus.
Professional experience supporting a Supplemental Instruction (SI) program as modeled after the International Center for Supplemental Instruction (ICSI) at the University of Missouri - Kansas City.
Experience providing instructional or academic support consultations to faculty or academic departments to align co-curricular support with course learning objectives.
Experience interacting with a diverse student population in an academic environment.

Responsibilities

Oversee the administration of the Peer Assisted Learning (Supplemental Instruction) program, ensuring high-quality implementation in high-enrollment, gateway, and/or historically challenging courses.
Lead the rollout of "Study Groups +1," a structured, peer-facilitated model designed to bridge the gap between peer tutoring and Supplemental Instruction.
Expand and manage embedded support by identifying opportunities to integrate peer support directly into classrooms in collaboration with academic units.
Collaborate with campus partners to incorporate technology-focused skill development into academic support services, aiming to help students enhance their technological proficiency.
Propose and pilot new initiatives that meet the evolving needs of a diverse undergraduate student body.
Train, supervise, and mentor a diverse team of peer leaders/facilitators.
Develop and instruct specialized courses to support student success initiatives.
Collaborate with campus partners to identify departmental needs and propose customized support solutions that align with specific courses and academic areas.
Build productive partnerships with faculty by presenting academic support as a "solution, not an intrusion."
Demonstrate the professional flexibility to pivot or adjust support models when departmental or faculty preferences or priorities shift.
Use student success software (currently EAB Navigate360), DFW rates, retention data, and early alert progress reports to identify students needing academic support and develop interventions.
Track the effectiveness of both new and existing initiatives; translate data sets into clear narratives that demonstrate the tangible impact of support on student success.
Use assessment data to determine which initiatives to scale and which to sunset, ensuring resources are always directed toward high-impact opportunities.
Represent the ASTC at various campus events, orientations, classes, and workshops.
Help promote ASTC services to the campus community.
Assist with Division of Undergraduate Education priorities, including supporting division-wide success initiatives and serving on various campus committees.
Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
