About The Position

The Center for Inclusive Excellence (CIE) at Regis College seeks a Graduate Intern to support its mission of fostering a diverse and inclusive campus community. This role offers exposure to CIE initiatives, planning, research, and data analysis, with a focus on the LGBTQ+ community and other marginalized populations. The intern will develop transferable skills in strategic planning, problem-solving, project management, program development, and data analysis. Key projects include assessing LGBTQ+ experiences and student supports, coordinating programs like OUTober and Trans Day of Remembrance, assisting with internal documents, and managing diversity, inclusion, and equity data. The intern will also serve as the center liaison for the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) student organization, meet regularly with the VP for Inclusive Excellence/Chief Diversity Officer, attend staff meetings, and participate in professional development opportunities. Additionally, the position requires the graduate intern to live on campus and fulfill Residence Life responsibilities, including incident management, crisis protocol training, serving on the Professional Staff On-Duty (PSOD) rotation, responding to on-campus issues, supporting resident assistants and Campus Police, submitting incident reports, communicating resident welfare, completing duty logs, and participating in Residence Life meetings and trainings.

  • Comfortable with collaboration, ability to thrive in groups, but also self-motivated.
  • Energized by Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Social Justice work, and committed to learning more about this functional area.
  • Interest in gaining experience in facilitation, curriculum development, and/or data collection and assessment.
  • Background or interest in best practices for supporting LGBTQ+ community members.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an assessment of LGBTQ+ experiences at Regis College and current student supports in relation to the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Collaboratively coordinate and/or facilitate programs (e.g., OUTober, Trans Day of Remembrance, Campus Pride month, PRIDE).
  • Assist with the development of internal documents and diversity, inclusion, and equity related data.
  • Serve as the center liaison for the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) student organization.
  • Regularly meet one-on-one with the VP for Inclusive Excellence/CDO.
  • Attend CIE staff meetings and other relevant meetings.
  • Develop learning outcomes, receive coaching in higher education administrative work, and engage in campus-wide professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Train in incident management and crisis protocol with the Office of Residence Life.
  • Serve as a member of the Professional Staff On-Duty (PSOD) rotation, responding to on-campus issues or concerns as they arise.
  • Facilitate response with appropriate parties, serve as support staff to resident assistants and Campus Police wherever needed, and submit incident reports when needed.
  • Communicate with appropriate campus offices regarding the welfare of residents.
  • Complete and distribute duty log by 9am for weekday duties.
  • Participate in regular Residence Life meetings, including Tuesday morning staff meetings and any trainings related to on-call policies or procedures.
