About The Position

The Program Coordinator (PC) is responsible for coordination of services for congregate clients, Volunteer coordination, and assisting Home Delivered Meals (HDM) Coordinator as needed. PC leads exercise classes and facilitates evidenced-based programs and other activities, as well as assists the Program/Wellness Coordinator with implementing new programs. PC assists Director in fundraising, grant writing, and marketing of Senior Center programs and services. PC screens clients to determine appropriateness and eligibility for referral for services. PC answers the phone, performs clerical duties for the Senior Center, and performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or two years of related experience, or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential function of the job.
  • Record management, including report preparation, filing methods.
  • Proficiency in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.
  • Standard business arithmetic, including percentages and decimals.
  • All relevant programs and criteria for eligibility.
  • Basic Gerontology - Programs and services for older adults.
  • Federal, State, and local laws and ordinances related to the elderly.
  • Basic medical terminology.
  • Available community services and resources related to older adults.
  • Administrative policies and procedures related to area of assignment.
  • Geographical areas and street locations within the County.
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assess needs of individuals.
  • Composition- letters, memos, directives.
  • Ability to use tact, discretion, initiative, and independent judgement within established guidelines.
  • Organization for work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up on assignments with two minimum of directions.
  • Basic computer skills including working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, service providers, family members, and others.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operations, procedure manuals, etc.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Evaluations as required.
  • Valid State Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Conduct or complete initial assessment of congregate clients to determine appropriate services.
  • Explains programs, services, and requirements to clients.
  • Conduct or complete yearly reassessments of all congregate clients.
  • Maintains files.
  • Record daily attendance and maintain monthly logs.
  • Transport Congregate clients to and from the senior center as needed.
  • Recruit and register RSVP volunteers.
  • Maintain files and prepare monthly logs.
  • Attend annual RSVP Recognition Event
  • Prepare and maintain Route Schedules
  • Assist with Monthly Division of Aging Services (DAS) Database reports.
  • Assist with packing and delivering meals.
  • Assist with assessment and reassessment as needed.
  • Prepare fundraising/marketing materials.
  • Research and assist with grant applications.
  • Promote Senior Center volunteer opportunities.
  • Screens clients to determine appropriateness and eligibility for referral for services.
  • Answers the phone and performs clerical duties of the Center.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
