Generations Southeast Program Coordinator - GSE - Juneau
About The Position
The Generations Southeast Program Coordinator develops, coordinates, and implements vocational training programming and assists with program administration and reporting. The coordinator is responsible for the daily operation of vocational training programs, which may be delivered in-house or outsourced. The role works with the Communications Department to market training opportunities and partners with internal and external stakeholders to support those opportunities. The coordinator recruits and evaluates instructors and recruits students, assesses instructional effectiveness, gathers feedback after each training opportunity, and maintains knowledge of relevant theories, principles, and program guidelines. The role also helps update policies and procedures, monitors the program budget, prepares financial and other reports, assists with grant applications, and maintains accurate, complete, and confidential records. The position may supervise up to two employees and may involve travel by small aircraft or ferry.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- An associate degree in a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience demonstrating the ability to fulfill the position's functions.
- Two to four years of related experience.
- Experience in technical or vocational training education.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex information from multiple sources.
- Ability to manage priorities in a changing environment with limited information.
- Ability to defuse emotionally charged situations respectfully.
- Ability to maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Highly organized, with the ability to handle multiple ongoing projects.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Familiarity with Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian cultures.
- Must be 21 years of age and have a valid driver's license; this may be a requirement for some appointments.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science degree in Education, Training, or a related field.
- Experience coordinating and implementing vocational training.
- Ability to complete the full training cycle: assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate.
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operation of vocational training programs.
- Develop and implement vocational training programs, either outsourced or in-house.
- Market available training opportunities in collaboration with the Communications Department.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders regarding vocational training opportunities.
- Recruit, screen, and evaluate instructors.
- Recruit students for training opportunities.
- Assess instructional effectiveness and gather feedback from trainers and trainees after each training opportunity.
- Maintain working knowledge of relevant theories, principles, and program guidelines.
- Analyze and interpret program guidelines, statutes, agency policies, and procedures, and apply them to moderately complex situations with minimal supervision.
- Assist the Manager in developing and updating program policies and procedures.
- Monitor the program budget and provide financial reports as requested by the Generations Southeast Manager.
- Compile statistical and narrative reports in a timely manner.
- Assist in writing, preparing, and submitting grant applications for the programs.
- Develop and maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records.
- Supervise up to two employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
