Employees in this position determine an applicant’s eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits based on the reason the individual separated from their last employer. Employees review and evaluate claim information and, if needed, investigate conflicting information provided by applicants and employers. Employees also ensure that all pertinent information used to evaluate the claim is documented in the case file and apply applicable law to issue formal eligibility determinations at the end to the review. This work requires considerable interpretation of laws and rules and the ability to analyze facts to determine the appropriate course of action.
