About The Position

The Temporary, Part Time Program Assistant works directly with the Hudson Service Center Director to maintain and/or expand programs offered to the community and assist in the overall operation of the Hudson Service Center. The role supports the efficient and effective operation of The Salvation Army social services ministry, including food services, seasonal programs, and the Red Kettle Campaign.

Requirements

• An associate degree or one to two years of related experience.
• Valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
• Highly organized with the ability to multitask.
• Ability to prepare and cook meals.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must obtain SafeServe food handling certification within six months of employment.

• Associate degree preferred.
• SafeServe food handling certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operating the Soup Kitchen, Emergency Food Pantry, and mass food distributions.
• Oversee food preparation to ensure food is prepared and served properly; cook as needed and assist with meal and menu planning.
• Assist with ordering food from the Food Bank and other vendors; pick up, unload, stock, and inventory supplies.
• Assist with seasonal programs, including Long Point Camp recruitment, the Back to School program, and Holiday Food and Toy assistance.
• Support the Red Kettle Campaign by recruiting and scheduling volunteer bell ringers, setting up and collecting kettles, relieving volunteers, and ringing as needed.
• Manage cleaning of kitchen, storage, and serving areas.
