About The Position

The Temporary, Part Time Program Assistant works directly with the Hudson Service Center Director to maintain and/or expand existing community programs and assist with the overall operation of the Hudson Service Center. The role supports efficient and effective delivery of The Salvation Army social services ministry. Temporary opportunities offer sick time.

Requirements

• An associate degree or one to two years of related experience.
• A valid driver's license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
• Ability to prepare and cook meals.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must obtain a SafeServe food handling certification within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operation of the Soup Kitchen, Emergency Food Pantry, and mass food distributions.
• Oversee food preparation to ensure food is prepared and served properly.
• Cook as needed and assist with meal and menu planning.
• Assist with ordering food from the Food Bank and other vendors; pick up, unload, stock, and inventory food.
• Assist with seasonal programs, including Long Point Camp recruitment, the Back to School program, and Holiday Food and Toy assistance.
• Assist with the Red Kettle Campaign by recruiting and scheduling volunteer bell ringers, setting up and collecting kettles, relieving volunteers, and ringing as needed.
• Manage cleaning of kitchen, storage, and serving areas.
• Perform other duties and activities as business needs change.
