Direct Care Program Assistant
About The Position
Merakey is seeking compassionate, reliable, and mission-driven Program Aides to provide direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Program Aides help individuals build independence, develop social and communication skills, and take part in daily living activities and community engagement. The role includes serving as a mentor, coach, and advocate while supporting individuals in pursuing personal goals. The position is located in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, and offers a Monday through Friday first shift. The pay rate is $17.00 per hour, or $19.00 per hour with selection of the Enhanced Pay option.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current, valid driver’s license.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Organizational skills.
- Six months of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support with activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Assist with personal care, hygiene, mobility, and meal preparation.
- Support life-skills development, including household tasks and social skills.
- Provide community support and transportation.
- Promote health, safety, and well-being, including medication support when trained.
- Support individuals’ independence, social and communication skills, daily living activities, and personal goals.
