Program Aide
About The Position
Metropolitan Family Services is hiring a full-time Program Aide for its Learning and Wellness Center and Midway Children's Center in Chicago. The Program Aide is part of a teaching team working with children ages 0–3 and/or 3–5, assisting with program activities and collaborating with diverse staff and the families served. The position works under the supervision of the Site/Education Supervisor. The hourly rate is $17.05–$18.00. The role supports classroom planning and daily activities, helps teachers guide children toward individual goals, and assists with assessing each child’s strengths and needs. The Program Aide also supports appropriate child guidance and discipline, helps maintain required child-to-staff ratios, participates in mandated training, and sets and tracks professional development goals.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to work with children ages 0–3 and/or 3–5.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Participate in team planning and implementation of program activities, collaborating with Family Support Workers, teachers, the Teacher Assistant, site partners, and the site supervisor.
- Assist with ongoing CLASS implementation.
- Help carry out the daily program by assisting the Lead Teacher and Teacher as needed.
- Help the Lead Teacher and Teacher guide children in achieving individual goals and assess children’s individual strengths and needs.
- Assist with children’s activities and ensure appropriate child guidance and discipline and that proper ratios are maintained at all times.
- Attend all mandated trainings, set and achieve professional development goals, share resources with other staff as appropriate, and track professional development in Gateways.
