About The Position

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at The Ohio State University invites applications for an open rank professional practice (non-tenure-track) faculty appointment. These are untenured clinical-track five-year contract faculty positions. Responsibilities for these positions include developing, enhancing, and teaching courses and academic programs across the computer science curriculum. In addition, the faculty members will participate in activities that increase the outreach and engagement of the department. The faculty members are also expected to contribute to the functioning of the department through service activities such as participation on departmental committees.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related computing field. Ph.D. must be completed by the time of appointment.
  • Evidence of teaching and/or mentoring teams (students or employees) in the computing field.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required, with a focus on working constructively, decisively, and collegially with both external and internal colleagues and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Individuals who can work independently and are proactive self-starters with strong project leadership skills.
  • Open to sharing ideas, continuously learning, and displaying innovative thinking.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with developing new courses and degree programs.
  • Experience with online teaching and programs, experiential teaching, informal learning, and/or outreach and engagement.
  • Experience teaching at the graduate, undergraduate, or professional levels.
  • Student and peer feedback on teaching effectiveness.

  • Pedagogical innovations or publications about teaching of computing.

  • Teaching and Mentoring: Experience or training in teaching and mentoring within a professional context is desirable.
  • Proven Leadership and Collaboration: We seek individuals with a demonstrated track record of leadership and collaboration in a professional environment.
  • Advanced Teaching and Mentoring Skills: The candidate should possess advanced teaching and mentoring skills within a professional context.
