About The Position

Utah State University Extension is seeking to fill a 12-month, full-time faculty position in the Home and Community Department, based in Juab County. This role can be appointed as either a tenure-track Extension Assistant Professor or a non-tenure track Professional Practice Extension Assistant Professor, depending on the candidate's qualifications. The position involves developing, implementing, and evaluating research-based educational programs for youth and adults to improve quality of life. Responsibilities include recruiting and training volunteers, and acting as a liaison between local communities, resource agencies, and Utah State University. The position is located in Nephi, Utah, with an estimated start date of July 15, 2026. A Master's degree is required for the Extension Assistant rank, while a Bachelor's degree and substantial professional experience are needed for the Professional Practice Extension Assistant Professor rank. Candidates with expertise in areas such as family and consumer sciences, health and wellness, mental health, food science, nutrition, finance, economic development, and workforce development are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

Professional Practice Track (Non-Tenure Track): Bachelor's degree in family and consumer sciences, public health, nutrition, food sciences, social work, mental health, psychology, finance, business, human development, family studies, health and wellness, or related areas.
Tenure-Track: Master’s degree in family and consumer sciences, public health, nutrition, food sciences, social work, mental health, psychology, finance, business, human development, family studies, health and wellness, or related areas.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct educational programs
Experience in teaching adult and youth audiences
Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
Ability to act as a liaison and collaborate with federal, state, university and county partners
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout Juab County and within the state as required.
Must be willing to collaborate with community leaders, partners, agencies, and USU faculty and specialists to meet diverse county and program needs.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Provide leadership to Extension activities in the Home and Community field
Conduct a community needs assessment to adapt and bring in programming needed to serve the community
Develop, implement, and evaluate programs for adults and youth
Develop partnerships and employ innovative approaches to reach clientele and new audiences
Pursue internal and external funding to support Extension programming
Document impacts and produce scholarly publications based on Extension programming
Manage budgets, personnel, and volunteers
Serve all communities across the county and support the civil rights mandate of Utah State University Extension
Serve and collaborate with other Extension County faculty and specialists, University personnel, community and government agencies, and stakeholders.
