About The Position

BakerRipley is seeking a Career Advisor to help individuals find meaningful employment and advance their careers. In this customer-focused role, you will serve visitors through phone, in-person, email, live chat, and social media channels, providing professional, respectful, and responsive service. You will listen to customers’ needs and connect them with job opportunities, workforce programs, workshops, and community resources that can help them secure, retain, or advance in employment. You will also provide guidance on local labor market trends, career exploration tools, and effective job-search strategies, supporting at least 10 customers each week. The role is based at 620 Northline Mall in Houston, Texas, and involves moderate local travel of up to 25%.

BakerRipley is a Houston-based community development nonprofit founded in 1907. It delivers community-based programs and services through approximately 60 locations, supporting socioeconomic mobility, health and wellness, and education.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, or qualifying equivalent experience and transferable skills.
• Alternatively, at least six months of experience and transferable skills may substitute for each 15 hours of college credit, up to two years.
• Alternatively, four years of experience working at Workforce Solutions and a recommendation from the current or most recent supervisor.
• Each six months of experience substitutes for 15 semester hours of college coursework.

Responsibilities

• Engage with customers by phone, in person, email, live chat, and social media.
• Listen to customers’ needs and connect them with relevant job opportunities, workforce programs, workshops, and community resources.
• Provide guidance on local labor market trends, career exploration tools, and effective job-search strategies.
• Support at least 10 customers weekly.
• Deliver timely, friendly, professional, respectful, and responsive service.
• Make impactful referrals to help job seekers secure, retain, or advance in employment.
