About The Position

This position is located in Tallahassee, FL. The Professional Accountant works within the Division of Finance and Administration, Bureau of Financial Management Services for the State of Florida Department of Management Services. The role involves reconciliation of ledgers, assisting with accounting entries, managing cash and investments, and participating in year-end financial statement preparations. The position also provides support to the Professional Accountant Supervisor with general accounting issues and special projects.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Three years of accounting related experience.
Experience using FLAIR.
Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite.
Access DBF and FLAIR.
Sedentary work and repetitive motion.

Responsibilities

Reconciles State Comptroller's ledgers and FLAIR, including appropriations, approved budget releases, receipts, and disbursements on a monthly basis and following the year-end close-out.
Assists various sections in correcting entries to bring accounts into balance, providing detailed guidance on problem and correcting entries to F&A staff.
Reconciles monthly purchasing card transactions.
Reconciles weekly investment balances.
Researches accounting problems.
Reconciles outstanding vouchers to available cash by fund each day.
Prepares investment vouchers and draw-downs as necessary.
Prepares vouchers for state employees' insurance claims.
Prepares monthly entries (TR 10) for Special Purpose Investment Accounts.
Prepares year-end adjusting entries as directed by the Bureau Chief or Professional Accountant Supervisor.
Completes assigned statewide financial statement forms.
Reconciles interfund transfers.
Prepares annual Internal Financial Statements.
Backup Retirement Accountant in their duties.
