About The Position

The University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor for the Winter 2027 semester to teach SRS/SOC2591-A00, Sociologie de la religion. This course analyzes religion from a sociological perspective, covering topics such as definitions of religion, sociological theories, religious organizations, religion and society (gender, culture, economy, politics), religious pluralism, social cohesion and change, secularization, new forms of religiosity, and globalization. The course is taught in person on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 11:30 and Thursdays from 8:30 to 10:00. Requirements

  • M.A. in Religious Studies or equivalent.
  • Required expertise in the course subject matter.
  • Ability to teach in person.
  • Competence in French (language of instruction).

Responsibilities

  • Teach SRS/SOC2591-A00, Sociologie de la religion, during the 2027 Winter Semester.
  • Analyze religion from a sociological perspective, covering various themes including definitions, methods, theories, organization, gender, culture, economy, politics, pluralism, social cohesion, change, secularization, new religiosity, and globalization.
  • Deliver instruction in person.
