Production Service Technician- Birmingham
About The Position
Southern Industries Home Improvement is seeking an experienced Service Technician to service and assess home-improvement products, provide accurate measurements and repairs, and help ensure customer satisfaction. The company is family-owned, has more than 350 employees and offices in five states, and has over 55 years of experience and more than 120,000 satisfied customers. Products include gutters, windows, vinyl siding, bath and shower remodels, and attic insulation. The technician drives a company truck and earns an hourly wage, with opportunities to assist with installations and earn commissions. The role typically follows a Monday-through-Friday schedule, with flexible hours that may include some evenings and occasional Saturdays. When service work is caught up, the technician may assist in the warehouse with cleaning, organizing, unloading trucks, preparing and loading installation materials, and picking up materials.
Requirements
- Experience in carpentry, trim carpentry, construction, or in-home renovation.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and occasional Saturdays.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate with people, take initiative, work independently, and be assertive when needed.
- Computer skills and basic knowledge of office equipment.
- Ability to take accurate measurements using a tape measure.
- Ability to use power tools such as a drill and jigsaw.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
- Reasoning ability to understand and carry out detailed written, illustrated, or oral instructions.
Nice To Haves
- Ability to use a metal brake.
- Ability to measure using a level and combination square.
Responsibilities
- Service company products accurately and professionally.
- Assist the Production Manager.
- Maintain the company vehicle, including cleaning it and taking it in for service.
- Provide service and measurements, and assist with installation jobs independently or as part of a team when needed.
- When service work is caught up, help clean and organize the warehouse, unload trucks, prepare and load installation materials, and pick up materials as needed.
- Represent the company and strive for 100% customer satisfaction.
- Provide complete and accurate client feedback after jobs are completed.
- Maintain a positive attitude and work as a team player while following the company’s CORE Values.
- Arrive ready to work according to the assigned schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
