Production Operator: Day & Night Shift

About The Position

The Production Operator tends machines that perform packaging functions such as filling, marking, labeling, banding, tying, packing, or wrapping containers. The role packages product to required weights, maintains product quality and accurate records, keeps equipment and work areas clean and sanitary, and follows company procedures and safety programs. Operators may also stage ingredients, assist coworkers with cleaning or setup, and perform basic maintenance using hand tools.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Some production experience preferred.
Ability to perform continuous physical activities throughout the workday, including climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, hearing, talking, repetitive motion, and moving objects weighing up to 55 lbs.

Responsibilities

Fill bags or totes to the proper weight according to plant and outside-agency specifications.
Ensure bags are properly sealed to prevent powder from leaking.
Stack finished product neatly on pallets to facilitate safe handling and transport.
Label products according to instructions, including product code, lot number, and any special markings.
Take samples for the lab and customers, and inspect powder samples for specks and foreign matter to help ensure product quality and prevent contamination.
Maintain accurate documentation of packaged product, rework, scrap, metal detector checks, weight checks, and equipment and utensil checks.
Inspect equipment, ensure it is in proper working order, and report problems to a supervisor or maintenance.
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, and HACCP programs to support safety and compliance.
Maintain good housekeeping; stage ingredients; clean the work area; and assist coworkers with cleaning or setting up other areas.
Clean and sanitize packaging equipment and work areas to eliminate sources of contamination.
Perform CIP and COP processes proficiently to ensure equipment cleanliness.
Perform basic general maintenance using hand tools as needed.
Perform other duties, jobs, or functions as assigned or required.
