About The Position

This is a supervisory position in a Carvana Inspection Center overseeing daily operations and a team responsible for vehicle reconditioning. The manager oversees the reconditioning process and directs at least five leads and up to 70 front-line associates in a lean manufacturing environment. The role is responsible for continuous improvement, associate engagement, and meeting quality, production, and cost objectives. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. The manager oversees daily operations, develops and coaches direct reports, supports succession planning, and contributes to strategic plans and objectives. The role ensures adherence to operating standards, policies, procedures, performance standards, health and safety requirements, and loss prevention guidelines. It also supports staffing, training and certification, production planning and capacity, performance metrics, and continuous improvement. The working environment may be cold, hot, noisy, or wet and may include fumes or odors related to vehicle maintenance. Hiring is contingent on passing a complete background check.

Requirements

At least 5 years of management experience in automotive or a lean manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
Experience leading and developing associates.
Proven ability to achieve project deliverables and company metrics.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Valid unrestricted driver’s license and a clean driving record for the past 3 years.
Ability to maintain high-volume, high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work with and through teams to achieve results.
Strong analysis and decision-making ability.
Proficient computer skills.
Ability to work overtime and weekends.
Ability to walk up to three miles each day.
Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently stretch, reach, walk, stoop, push, and/or pull.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently, with most lifting from knee to shoulder height and other lifting from various levels.
Ability to use required safety equipment and personal protective equipment, which may include a face shield or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, a mask, and other protective garments and equipment.
Must pass a complete background check.

Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day operations within the Inspection Center.
Mentor direct reports and provide accountability, leadership development, training, performance management, and succession planning.
Participate in the development and execution of strategic plans, goals, and objectives aligned with company objectives.
Ensure adherence to operating standards, systems, policies, procedures, and performance standards.
Create a work and team environment that encourages positive communication, team cohesion, and adherence to Carvana’s values.
Recruit, select, orient, and train supervisory staff.
Ensure progression-path training and certification processes are consistently executed.
Train and mentor leads and associates using competency-based feedback.
Ensure adequate production capacity for each line and assist with production planning.
Ensure compliance with health and safety and loss prevention guidelines.
Provide vision and guidance to the reconditioning team in meeting performance metrics.
Engage and positively reinforce the team in pursuing quality, production, and cost objectives.
Participate in and lead problem-solving and continuous-improvement efforts.
