Requirements

High school diploma or GED, and/or 12 months of experience.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic with all units of measure.
Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram-form instructions and use common-sense reasoning to address problems in standardized situations.
Ability to use equipment generally associated with the role, including overhead cranes, forklifts, and hand grinders.

Responsibilities

Lift, position, and remove workpieces from machines to assist with fitting and welding.
Load, stack, and transport stock, tools, dies, and work in process by hand or truck.
Clean and scrape metal before fabrication, welding, painting, or shipping.
Pick up and transport scrap from work areas.
Clean work areas, machines, tools, and equipment.
Perform other routine duties and assist fellow employees as directed.
Pass tacking tests in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
Follow all safety rules and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
