About The Position

PDS Optical is seeking a Production Associate for its Digital Surface Department. The role involves operating optical manufacturing equipment that blocks, generates, and polishes lenses, applies backside coating, and lasers lenses to the designated curve on the concave side. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at a rate of $16.00 per hour. Optical laboratory or mass-manufacturing experience is preferred but not required; on-the-job training is provided.

The work takes place in an optical laboratory production/manufacturing environment. The area can sometimes be warm and somewhat loud, and the role involves working near a diverse group of coworkers. Employees must be able to stand and work on their feet for eight hours. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

• Ability to stand and work on your feet for eight hours.
• Ability to learn to operate all machines within the designated area.
• Ability to address automated surface line equipment errors and alarms that do not require a tool to repair.

Responsibilities

• Learn to operate all machines within the designated area.
• Change and install Filter Tech rolls with a partner as necessary.
• Address equipment errors and alarms on the automated surface line when they do not require a tool to repair.
• Understand the lab production order, Julian Day Number (JND) system, and which jobs are designated as hot or priority jobs to be completed first.
• Transport production trays as needed.
• Clean the work area and machines during and after the shift.
• Maintain a steady workflow.
