About The Position

The Production Associate I works in production for Sonoco’s Wood Reels division at the Recycle Service Center in Jefferson, Texas. Reporting to the shift supervisor, the associate is responsible for working quickly and safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Excellent attendance, teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to identify defects on the packing line are important to the role. The position involves hands-on production work, monitoring product quality, troubleshooting, and maintaining an organized work area.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Working knowledge of the company’s products and their quality requirements.
• Reliability, initiative, commitment, and a quality-focused approach.
• Ability to work effectively with a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions.
• Ability to perform repetitive duties, including going up and down stairs and standing for long periods.
• Ability to work quickly while maintaining craftsmanship and attention to detail.
• A get-it-done attitude and urgency in resolving problems and completing tasks.
• Good attendance.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with other departments and teams.
• Think on your feet and troubleshoot problems and situations.
• Make incremental process adjustments and monitor and report the quality of manufactured products.
• Learn to set up new jobs and train on other lines and in other departments.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Perform duties as designated by a supervisor or manager.
• Perform duties in support of Sonoco’s quality and safety policies.
• Help other departments as needed.
• Use downtime for cleaning and straightening.
