Product Marketing Manager

Salient Systems•Austin, TX

About The Position

Salient Systems is hiring its first dedicated Product Marketing Manager to build the product-marketing practice for CompleteView, an open video management platform, and the company’s recording platforms. The role owns how the portfolio is positioned, how sales teams and channel partners are equipped, and how the company learns from wins and losses. Salient sells through integrators and distributors, and the role must create product stories and materials that partners can use in customer conversations. The market is largely on-premise, with the company building toward a hybrid cloud future. The Product Marketing Manager will connect positioning, pricing and packaging research, launches, sales enablement, competitive intelligence, and win/loss analysis into a commercially measurable go-to-market system. The role produces practical assets as well as strategy, and works across Product, Sales, Finance, Marketing, a revenue-operations partner, the hardware lead, and channel partners. It also uses AI thoughtfully to improve training, documentation, and partner education, with appropriate human review. Success in the first year means sales and partners can explain the portfolio consistently and credibly; key sales tools are current and in use; product launches follow a repeatable process; research informs decisions; win/loss insights help Product; and customer-facing claims remain accurate. The work is assessed by its effect on sales conversations and win rate, rather than the volume of materials created.

Requirements

  • About seven or more years of B2B product marketing experience for a technical product.
  • Demonstrated ownership of positioning, packaging, and sales enablement.
  • Experience running a pricing or packaging study and turning its findings into a defensible recommendation.
  • Experience systematically learning from wins and losses and making changes based on findings.
  • Working understanding of a partner-, reseller-, distributor-, or integrator-led sales model.
  • Clear writing, sound commercial judgment, and willingness to verify technical claims.
  • Examples of thoughtful AI use to build or improve useful work, beyond generating a first draft.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in physical security or video management; adjacent technical-market experience is also relevant.
  • Experience working across both software and hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Develop positioning, messaging, and packaging for CompleteView and the recording platforms.
  • Translate product briefs into clear language for security leaders, IT teams, integrators, and distributors, and carry that messaging across sales, marketing, revenue operations, and channel partners.
  • Own and maintain the sales deck; create a defensible total-cost-of-ownership model, competitive guides, objection-handling materials, and other tools addressing deal challenges.
  • Partner with Sales to develop a demo narrative and script that others can deliver effectively.
  • Lead major product launches by connecting product value to releases and coordinating internal and partner-facing plans across training, web content, sales materials, and demand generation.
  • Work with partner-program teams on product stories and materials; attend relevant partner events. The role does not own co-marketing funds or the partner-event calendar.
  • Run pricing and packaging studies, maintain practical competitive intelligence, and build a repeatable win/loss practice; provide actionable recommendations to Product, Sales, and Finance.
  • Develop customer references and case studies supported by specific proof.
  • Work with Product and the hardware lead to keep specifications, compatibility statements, and feature descriptions accurate and aligned with shipped products and configurations.
  • Use AI tools thoughtfully to improve training, documentation, and partner education, with human review where appropriate.
