About The Position

As a Product Manager, you will be part of our Tools & Outdoor team, working as a hybrid employee in our Towson, MD office. Product Management is responsible for the product roadmap, feature definition, and overseeing a product throughout its lifecycle. They partner with cross-functional teams to ensure that all products meet customer and business needs and align back to the overall brand and category strategy. Product Management collaborates with designers, engineers, marketing, and sales teams to design and build products that serve the needs of our end user, align to relevant CTQs (Critical-to-Quality), and create competitive advantage in the marketplace. Additionally, they conduct market research and communicate with external stakeholders to get feedback and relay important information. Product Management also manages resource planning and works with operations and engineering to drive Design to Value (DTV), productivity, and cost reduction. In this role, you will be responsible for developing product and market strategies to drive growth and improved profitability across the BLACK+DECKER Tools & Outdoor portfolio. The Product Manager for BLACK+DECKER Tools & Outdoor supports the development and implementation of product strategies consistent with the SBD strategic plan, including situational assessments, competitive overviews, portfolio analyses, and action plans. This role supports the BLACK+DECKER Cleaning product leader and will require flexibility to take on cleaning product projects as prioritized by the brand leaders. This position requires the ability to effectively work with members of cross-functional teams, including engineering, brand marketing, channel, and supply chain. Ideal candidates should be self-motivated individuals, eager to learn and develop a product management skillset for a globally recognized brand.

Requirements

  • BS or BA in Marketing, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of Product Management experience preferred
  • Ability to work effectively across functions and lead teams – must be able to present data and conclusions in an organized manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments and projects simultaneously
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required; must be able to present data and conclusions in an organized manner
  • Creative thinking / problem solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Product team to manage and grow existing business: create plans to increase sales of existing categories, reduce and eliminate product quality issues, and identify cost reduction/value improvement opportunities.
  • Lead cross-functional teams throughout the entire lifecycle of product development, including the ability to facilitate and coordinate a diverse group, such as engineering, channel, brand, graphics, sourcing, manufacturing, legal, finance, supply, and quality teams.
  • Actively communicate the status of projects to all project stakeholders, including the cross-functional team and senior management.
  • Develop all marketing materials, including packaging, presentations, merchandising, and other collateral, to commercially launch new products.
  • Work closely with global teams to deliver projects that drive new product development across all regions.
  • Conduct comprehensive product landscape and pricing analysis to drive product positioning in the marketplace relative to competition and margin targets.
  • Prepare financial analysis for portfolio evaluation and decision-making.
  • Participate in forecasting and capacity planning with channel, sales, and supply chain teams.
  • Perform competitive tracking analysis and market data collection.
