About The Position

Synthesia is seeking a Product Manager to own and scale their Interactive Avatars product from beta to a platform for thousands of developers. This role involves defining the real-time avatar API, the developer integration surface, the end-user experience, and the commercial model. The product manager will work closely with engineering, research, and design partners to transform the current avatar technology into an easily integrable API that feels human and is trustworthy in production. The goal is to solve the complexity developers currently face in stitching together various components for lifelike, real-time avatars.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in product management, with direct experience owning a developer-facing API, SDK, or platform product.
  • Comfortable operating in an early-stage, 0→1 environment where discovery and delivery occur concurrently and the roadmap is still being shaped.
  • Strong technical fluency to engage in credible conversations with engineers about real-time systems, latency, and integration trade-offs.
  • Strong written communication skills for writing specifications, strategy documents, and API design rationales.
  • Ability to operate independently and synthesize information from developer interactions to form a product point of view.
  • Willingness to be honest about knowledge gaps and adapt strategy based on evidence.

Nice To Haves

  • Real-time/streaming media, conversational AI, or applied-AI product experience.
  • Instinct for the commercial side of a developer product, including adoption, packaging, and monetization.
  • Based in Seattle or open to regular in-person time, as the team is Seattle-anchored.

Responsibilities

  • Owning the end-to-end Interactive Avatar API, including the developer-facing surface (SDK, integration patterns, docs), real-time experience quality, and the transition from closed beta to general availability.
  • Defining the product roadmap for Interactive Avatars over the coming cycles.
  • Engaging closely with developers and teams using the beta to understand their integration process, API challenges, critical real-time behaviors, and their definition of 'production-ready'.
  • Translating user understanding into a clear product direction, prioritizing features, and aligning the team with the evolving strategy.
  • Collaborating with engineering and research teams on the real-time avatar stack, providing clear specifications, making trade-off decisions (quality vs. latency vs. cost), and offering context for efficient development.
  • Partnering with go-to-market and commercial teams to define the packaging, pricing, and sales strategy for the API, recognizing its distinct business model from batch video.
  • Defining and tracking key product metrics related to adoption, integration success, real-time quality, reliability, and commercial viability.
