About The Position

Retool is seeking a Product Manager to own the core building blocks of its platform, focusing on transforming complex integrations and third-party partnerships into seamless building experiences for enterprise users. The role involves exploring the evolution of Retool's resource platform, building 0-1 features with partners, and creating a cohesive user experience. The Product Manager will work closely with customers, engineering, design, and go-to-market teams to translate emerging needs into durable platform capabilities, requiring both customer empathy and platform thinking to solve immediate problems while building scalable systems. This position is within a small, experienced team at a company where product is a key growth driver.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of product management experience, including building and launching 0–1 products for technical or enterprise users.
  • Experience helping a fast-growing product evolve into a scalable platform.
  • Strong platform thinking: you can identify shared primitives, design for reuse, and build systems that support many products and use cases.
  • Experience with data connectivity, integration platforms, developer platforms, or similarly technical enterprise products. We’re looking for more than experience shipping individual API integrations.
  • The technical depth to participate credibly in architecture discussions and evaluate tradeoffs with senior engineers.
  • A track record of turning ambiguous, cross-cutting problems into clear product direction and shipped outcomes.
  • Strong customer instincts and experience conducting research with technical users.
  • The ability to advocate for customers while distinguishing recurring platform needs from one-off requests.
  • Strong product judgment. You form opinions, make decisions, communicate the rationale clearly, and course-correct as you learn.
  • The ability to articulate product value and build a clear business case for customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong ownership and a willingness to stay close to implementation, not just the roadmap.
  • Hands-on curiosity about AI and how builders connect applications and agents to models, tools, and business data.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building product partnerships is helpful, but not required.
  • We’re equally interested in platform PMs who have helped products evolve from a collection of capabilities into a scalable, cohesive system.

Responsibilities

  • Set the strategy and roadmap for Retool’s integration platform, grounding priorities in customer evidence, technical constraints, and business impact.
  • Lead 0–1 projects from early customer research through launch, adoption, and iteration.
  • Work closely with engineering and design to shape both the underlying platform and the builder-facing experience.
  • Explore new product ideas with customers and determine which problems are worth solving.
  • Evaluate build-versus-partner decisions and work with third-party partners where they can meaningfully improve the product experience.
  • Make clear product and technical tradeoffs without waiting for broad consensus.
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Success to understand customer needs, communicate product value, and build a compelling case for investment.
  • Define success through outcomes such as ease of setup, resource reuse, builder adoption, and customer value.
