Expedia Group•Seattle, WA
•$137,500 - $220,000

About The Position

Expedia Group is seeking a Product Manager III to lead selection and ranking for its Search experiences, helping travelers find suitable accommodations, flights, and trips more quickly and confidently. The role owns the roadmap and helps shape product strategy for Search selection and ranking, aiming to deliver relevant results, reduce dead ends, and shorten the path from search to booking across brands, markets, and traveler journeys. The Product Manager works closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Machine Learning, Research, platform teams, business stakeholders, and adjacent teams. The role translates traveler and business problems into product requirements, measurable outcomes, and prioritized work; guides capabilities from concept through launch and scale; and balances traveler value, business impact, partner and supply needs, technical feasibility, and trust. The position is based in Seattle, Washington.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent related professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of product management experience, including end-to-end ownership of a customer-facing product or capability, ideally one backed by data or machine learning.
  • Demonstrated experience taking products or major features from concept to scaled adoption and influencing cross-functional partners without direct authority.
  • Data fluency, including the ability to design, run, and interpret experiments and use data analysis to drive product decisions.
  • Experience working on machine learning-backed products such as search, ranking, or recommendation systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows, and applying machine learning concepts to real-world products.
  • Familiarity with search relevance concepts such as retrieval, learning to rank, and offline and online evaluation metrics.
  • Experience trading organic relevance against paid or promoted placement, or a comparable commercial tension.

Responsibilities

  • Own the roadmap and delivery for Search selection and ranking capabilities, shaping product strategy in line with broader Search and Expedia Group direction.
  • Identify and size opportunities to improve candidate selection, relevance, and ordering using query and session context, traveler behavior, and inventory and content signals.
  • Translate traveler and business problems into clear product requirements, measurable outcomes, and a prioritized backlog, and drive work from concept through launch and scale.
  • Partner with Data Science and Machine Learning teams on model objectives, feature priorities, offline and online evaluation frameworks, feedback loops, and responsible use of personalization signals.
  • Work with Engineering and platform teams to define requirements, data contracts, and instrumentation supporting multiple brands, markets, and traveler journeys.
  • Own eligibility, filtering, and guardrail rules that determine which results are shown, and improve them using data and experimentation.
  • Balance traveler value, business impact, partner and supply considerations, technical feasibility, and trust in prioritization decisions, including tradeoffs between organic relevance and paid or promoted placement.
  • Partner with adjacent teams to align shared definitions for ranking signals, relevance, and result quality so ownership, standards, and measurement are consistent.
  • Define success metrics and guardrails, including relevance, engagement, progression, conversion, satisfaction, latency, coverage, diversity, and fairness.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative research, experimentation, behavioral data, and operational feedback to identify gaps, diagnose ranking issues, and validate solutions.
  • Build alignment across cross-functional partners and stakeholders, and communicate product direction, progress, and tradeoffs clearly to senior leaders and delivery teams.
  • Contribute to the longer-term evolution of Search toward more adaptive, context-aware, and traveler-centered experiences.
