Product Manager II, YouTube Trust and Safety
About The Position
At YouTube, the top priority is keeping the community safe, with protecting minors at the heart of that mission. The Product Manager will join the Minor Safety team within YouTube Trust and Safety to build safeguards and manage age assurance models and proactive detection systems that help ensure users receive age-appropriate experiences across YouTube’s ecosystem. The role works at the intersection of technology and policy, collaborating with engineering, design, legal, and operations teams to launch machine-learning- and AI-powered classification technologies. The Product Manager will translate regulatory and safety requirements into product strategies and guide safety features from conception through execution, impacting millions of minors. Individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The US salary range is $163,000–$236,000, with a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in product management or a related technical role.
- 2 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch, such as ideation through execution or end-to-end product development.
Nice To Haves
- 1 year of experience in technical leadership.
- Experience developing ML/AI-driven products for classification or abuse protection, including defining metrics and measuring model and system performance.
- Experience in Trust and Safety, Child or Youth Safety, or abuse-prevention products, ideally including age assurance or identity verification.
- Experience translating legal, regulatory, or policy requirements into product requirements, ideally in youth-safety areas.
- Experience leading sensitive, high-visibility launches with Policy, Legal, Privacy, and Operations partners, and communicating complex trade-offs clearly to executive leadership.
Responsibilities
- Define the risk landscape and mitigation trade-offs for YouTube products relating to minor safety, evaluating markets, competitors, regulatory requirements, and user needs.
- Drive the product strategy and roadmap for age understanding and minor safety protections on YouTube.
- Launch new machine-learning and artificial-intelligence products and minor-specific safety protections, analyze their performance, and iterate quickly.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Policy, Legal, Privacy, and Operations teams on classification technologies and safety approaches.
- Partner cross-functionally to translate global regulatory requirements into actionable product requirements.
