Product Manager, Developer Experience

Bland•San Francisco, CA
•$135,000 - $200,000

About The Position

Bland is hiring a Product Manager to own and improve the developer experience for building on and with Bland. The role brings APIs, MCP, CLI, plugins, models, and documentation together into a cohesive product offering that developers and coding agents can understand and use. The Product Manager will shape the experience from a developer’s first integration through production use, set product direction, lead developers across the stack, and ship improvements directly. The role also owns how Bland brings its voice models to market, including capability selection, integration, consumption, packaging, and pricing. The Product Manager will work with engineering, research, Customer Engineering, and marketing to turn technical capabilities into products developers adopt and continue using. The desired outcomes are to grow the number of developers building on and with Bland, increase meaningful usage beyond the UI, and grow the proportion of ARR driven by Bland’s models. The work includes shortening the path to a production agent; making the developer platform and its capabilities easier to navigate; improving API patterns, examples, documentation, and releases; and commercializing the model suite, beginning with Text-to-Speech v3. The Product Manager will also explore AI applications in phone calls, including full-duplex models and research into conversational dynamics, and help turn advances into capabilities developers can use. The role requires high ownership, pace, and commitment. The person will coordinate contributions across engineering, research, Customer Engineering, and marketing while remaining accountable for the developer experience. Priorities may change, and the person may take on product work beyond the initial remit. The role expects weekend reachability, and Fridays are always in person.

Requirements

  • Has worked as a software engineer and has at least three years of experience across engineering, data science, or product management.

  • Can build sample integrations, test assumptions, improve documentation and tooling, and make product changes directly.
  • Enjoys working with customers and helping developers understand capabilities, solve problems, and succeed.
  • Can translate technical capabilities into clear documentation, compelling demos, and product stories that equip customers and teammates.
  • Has an active interest in voice AI and has independently built with voice products and followed relevant models, tools, and companies.
  • Demonstrates ownership, pace, self-directed progress, fast learning, resilience, high standards, openness to direct feedback, and constructive collaboration.

  • Shape a consistent experience across Bland’s API, MCP, CLI, and plugins; simplify common tasks and make configuration and conventions clear to developers and coding agents.
  • Own the quality and completeness of API documentation, quickstarts, sample integrations, and guides, ensuring new capabilities have a documented path to a working result and keeping materials current.
  • Understand developer goals, barriers, and reasons for churn; instrument the journey from signup to production and work directly with customers.
  • Turn recurring support issues into product improvements in partnership with Customer Engineering.
  • Own the strategy for bringing Bland voice models to developers building their own voice experiences, including capabilities, integration, packaging, and pricing.
  • Own the APIs and product surfaces through which customers try, configure, and consume models; partner with research on model behaviors and controls.
  • Help developers understand what they can build and why Bland is a good fit; collaborate on demos, technical content, launches, and internal enablement.
  • Bring developers together through workshops, hackathons, or other events that support building and product adoption.
  • Make it possible for developers to get from nothing to a working production agent through Bland’s developer tools as quickly as possible.
  • Build complete examples for common use cases, establish consistent API patterns, and maintain clarity through documentation and new releases.
  • Develop the commercial strategy for individual Bland models, beginning with Text-to-Speech v3 and extending to future models across the voice stack.
  • Explore AI applications in phone calls, including full-duplex models and research into conversational dynamics, and help translate advances into developer-facing capabilities.
  • Set product direction, coordinate cross-functional contributions, lead developers across the stack, and ship product improvements directly.
