About The Position

Being good neighbors – helping people, investing in our communities, and making the world a better place – is who we are at State Farm. It is at the core of how we operate and the reason for our success. Come join a #1 team and do some good! This is a hybrid role, requiring qualified candidates to live within a 180-mile radius of a hub location (Dunwoody, GA; Richardson, TX; Tempe, AZ or Bloomington, IL) and plan to spend time working from home and time working in the office. Applicants must be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; employer will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work authorization.

Requirements

  • 5+ years designing digital products (web and/or native)
  • Strong discovery leadership with examples of research driving product direction
  • Strong interaction design, IA, and prototyping skills
  • Strong facilitation and stakeholder management
  • Experience using and extending a design system

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing with AI (and ideally building AI agents or copilots)
  • AI product experience (copilots, agents, chat, search, recommendations, decision support)
  • Service design experience (journey maps, service blueprints)
  • Experience leading or mentoring designers

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end product experience design from discovery through high fidelity execution—grounded in research and user feedback, fast at generating multiple viable solution paths, and strong at stakeholder alignment.
  • Run workshops, “run the room,” mentor other designers, and partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Architecture.
  • Plan and run discovery using interviews, usability testing, and rapid concept validation.
  • Synthesize findings into clear problem framing, opportunity areas, and success measures.
  • Set up lightweight feedback loops to validate direction early.
  • Generate multiple distinct solution directions, not just iterations.
  • Create flows, journeys, IA, wireframes, and prototypes to compare options.
  • Balance speed of exploration with depth of refinement.
  • Produce low to high fidelity prototypes and clear interaction details.
  • Define pilot scopes, measurement plans, and learnings to inform go forward decisions.
  • Deliver build ready specs and assets, and partner with Engineering on feasibility.
  • Lead workshops and drive decisions on constraints and tradeoffs.
  • Communicate design rationale linking user needs, research evidence, business goals, and technical realities.
  • Act as primary design point of contact for key stakeholders.
  • Mentor designers and raise craft through critique and coaching.
  • Drive adoption of the design system and contribute patterns, standards, and governance.
  • Create reusable patterns and playbooks that help partner teams adopt solutions at scale.
  • Design responsible AI experiences such as copilots, agent workflows, and automation.
  • Call out AI UX risks such as trust, privacy, bias, and explainability.
  • Prototype lightweight AI workflows, collaborate in GitHub and write docs in Markdown.
